About the Role
As an Accounting Analyst, you will provide finance support that helps Moneris achieve its commitments to customers, employees, and shareholders. You will be responsible for preparing and recording general accounting transactions and supporting Controller Group activities within the Finance team. This is a 12-month contract.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accurate supporting documentation.
- Perform a variety of accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization's financial resources and ensure compliance with regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
- Process accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, recording transactions, collections, and coordination with internal stakeholders and customers.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve outstanding items.
- Prepare prepaid expense, deferred revenue, fixed asset, and depreciation journal entries, along with supporting schedules.
- Perform monthly bank account reconciliations and resolve unreconciled items.
- Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns and supporting revenue attestation schedules.
- Maintain accounting records and documentation in accordance with Finance procedures.
- Perform other duties, as required.
Requirements
- College diploma or degree in Accounting or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
- 2 years of experience in general accounting.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience preparing journal entries and supporting accounting documentation.
- Experience performing account reconciliations and analyzing accounting variances.
- Ability to meet month-end reporting deadlines.
