About the Role
The Family Service Counselor serves client families by making at-need cemetery arrangements and selling pre-need arrangements. This role is essential for generating revenue and acting as the primary point of contact for families, ensuring they receive exemplary, personalized service.
Responsibilities
- Prospect for a minimum of 1-2 hours each day
- Obtain referrals from families served
- Network and build community and civic relationships
- Present services to families
- Maintain and track activity levels to ensure productivity
- Respond to client inquiries in a timely, respectful, and professional manner
- Develop an understanding of unique family needs and offer value-based solutions
- Maintain contact with families to ensure satisfaction
- Prepare for appointments and perform procedures with attention to detail
- Resolve customer problems and requests
- Educate families on the benefits of pre-planning
- Collaborate with funeral directors, location managers, and staff to provide seamless service
- Review previous services and contacts to support current needs
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass internal presentation certification within thirty days of hire
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
- Ability to drive frequently
- Ability to obtain and maintain an insurance license if required by state/province
- Ability to work up to 12 hours in a day

- Subsequent years: $100,000 - $150,000+
