About the Role
This field-based role involves executing brand strategy and tactics, managing a territory, building customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize sales performance while adhering to AbbVie's business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
- Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and execute post-call evaluations to improve sales performance.
- Effectively handle objections and gain calls to action to close sales.
- Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute a call plan to optimize coverage and frequency to key customers for maximum access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, market landscape, competitors, and disease/product knowledge.
- Share market intelligence with the in-field team, brand team, and sales manager for alignment and to optimize brand strategy execution.
- Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition and identify/develop disease state experts and speakers/advocates.
- Adapt selling approach based on customer style and behavior.
- Offer innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities and address challenges.
- Leverage findings to develop sales strategies.
- Demonstrate in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge.
- Operate effectively in a matrix environment.
- Provide impact with ideas for the larger organization and anticipate/respond to changes.
- Build collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
- Lead by example, displaying positive behaviors and peer coaching.
- Satisfy all applicable healthcare industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
- At least five (5) years of relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3) or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred and a high school diploma/GED required.
- Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills.
- Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools.
- Possesses strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
- Driving a personal auto or company car or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements.
- Documented success in leadership and support roles of increased responsibility.
- Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience such as physician/account based selling, training, managed health care or marketing preferred.
- English language proficiency verbally and in writing (for all non-English speaking countries).
- Must be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain HCIR credentials.
- HCIR credentialing requirements may include background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination, fingerprinting, and specific licenses.
