About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Adult Inpatient Team at the Magnolia Unit, North Middlesex NHS Trust. This is a locum opportunity for a therapist with experience in adult neurological rehabilitation to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, providing a high-quality service to adult inpatients with neurological conditions and complex multi-pathology presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a high standard of Speech and Language Therapy services to adult inpatients with neurological and complex medical conditions.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of patients with diverse and complex physical, cognitive, communication, and psychological presentations.
  • Develop clinical diagnoses and deliver individualised treatment programmes based on assessment findings.
  • Independently manage your own caseload while working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide advice, education, and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with HCPC and local service standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, discharge planning, and service development where appropriate.

Requirements

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), or eligibility to join.
  • Previous experience working at Band 6 level within adult inpatient or neurological rehabilitation services.
  • Experience assessing and managing adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders, including stroke patients.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
