About the Role

Supervises the field construction of a single large or complex project or multiple projects, including organization, planning, and scheduling, to ensure completion on time, within budget, and to the specified quality.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison with owners, architects, and engineers for daily construction activities.
  • Participate in project pursuits, proposals, and presentations, significantly contributing to securing projects.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop Superintendents and other staff, including performance appraisals.
  • Develop and implement project set-up and site logistics plans, defining project-specific scope of work.
  • Develop and implement project work schedules, identifying the critical path and expediting material and equipment delivery.
  • Review and respond to subcontractor schedule impacts and claims.
  • Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and manage the site safety program, ensuring subcontractor compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Manage and make decisions regarding scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and staffing.
  • Document field issues impacting budget, quality, or schedule.
  • Respond to subcontractor requests regarding field issues impacting budget, quality, or schedule.
  • Oversee work among trades to ensure coordinated project operations and resolve local area problems.
  • Manage labor relations with subcontractors and internal staff.
  • Implement and oversee mock-ups and associated testing, review, and approval.
  • Ensure necessary permits and insurance are current and act as liaison to inspection agencies.
  • Perform as Stormwater Compliance Coordinator (SCC).
  • Manage General Conditions (GCs) and General Requirements (GRs) to maintain the budget.
  • Manage the billing process, including Work-In-Place (WIP), monthly estimates, payrolls, invoices, and subcontractor payments.
  • Ensure work is installed in compliance with approved contract documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of four years’ related training and at least 15 years of building construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Proficient in all aspects of building systems.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of general and subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of construction means, methods, and materials.
  • Understanding of line and grade and survey methods.
  • Proficient knowledge of building codes and compliance.
  • Proficient knowledge of construction cost control and accounting procedures.
  • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Proficient knowledge and use of scheduling software.
  • Ability to implement leading-edge technologies such as Building Information Models (BIM) and Lean.
  • Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of accounting and cost control procedures.
  • Physical ability to climb stairs, ladders, and negotiate construction areas.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to sit, talk, hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
