About the Role

As a Category Leader within the News Corp Global Sourcing Organization, you will partner closely with key stakeholders to shape and implement sourcing strategies for the Real Estate and Facilities category. This role is responsible for developing and driving holistic category strategies, managing stakeholder relationships, and bringing excellence to News Corp-wide sourcing and supplier management. You will collaborate across teams to develop new procurement approaches and solve complex business problems, acting as an expert practitioner in creating competitive environments and making data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of annual productivity savings and working capital impact across the category.
  • Develop, execute, and implement a complete Category Strategy for Real Estate, Facilities Management (FM), and Construction/Design.
  • Play an integral role in the development of multi-year global category plans and strategies.
  • Follow structured project management methods to execute complex, long-term category management and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Adopt/leverage the Category Performance framework and define metrics related to category performance.
  • Prepare and execute clear, structured negotiations.
  • Start/Run program level initiatives such as improving existing processes or increasing diversity.
  • Manage Category cards detailing overall category strategies, preferred suppliers, and business unit requirements.
  • Develop “should cost” and “total cost of ownership models” for the category.
  • Build strong partnerships with key budget owners, functional stakeholders, and strategic suppliers.
  • Be part of multiple cross-functional teams executing major category initiatives.
  • Establish strong relationships with internal business partners and understand strategic business direction.
  • Develop global sourcing strategies to deliver against business objectives for internal clients.
  • Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking analysis.
  • Manage the fundamentals of sourcing and supplier engagement activities including RFx, spend pattern analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations, and supplier consolidation.
  • Work with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements.
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement strategies.
  • Prepare and hold business reviews with stakeholders to review vendor performance, future opportunities, and/or challenges.
  • Develop an understanding of the designated business unit market strategy and proactively identify individual spend category strategies/drivers.
  • Work with senior cross-functional internal customers to define detailed business requirements.
  • Ensure Sourcing Partners as well as Contracting and Sourcing Analysts follow the category strategy & policies, procedures without deviation.
  • Implement change management strategies within designated business units.
  • Assist the Business Sourcing Partner in business unit capacity and demand planning forecasting.
  • Negotiate global preferred supplier agreements.
  • Perform negotiation of contracts including Master Services Agreements, Construction/Design Agreements, Software as a Service, etc.
  • Execute SOWs of complex and strategic nature through creation to approval.
  • Manage escalations to the legal department appropriately.
  • Act as a contracting subject matter expert (SME) providing coaching and advisory services to other sourcing managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree or equivalent experience required, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of global real estate, facilities, and construction/capital expenditure sourcing experience.
  • Minimum 3 years experience leading cross-cultural teams.
  • Certification in Procurement such as CPSM or CSCP, preferred.
  • Certification in Six Sigma, preferred.
  • Embraces fact‐based decision making; naturally seeks to leverage and/or integrate market data, spend analytics, and cost modeling.
  • Proven written and oral communicator, with strategic, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Expert negotiator with proven experience in setting negotiation strategies and conducting negotiations.
  • Strong project management skills, including adhering to stakeholder timelines, and meeting management skills.
  • Expert understanding of, and deep experience with, multi-step strategic sourcing processes and category management strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of the basic types of commercial agreement structures and the function and purpose of key legal terms.
  • Experienced at assessing risk and concisely explaining complex issues to principal business owners.
  • Extremely customer-focused, taking the time to understand the needs of the business.
  • Experience working in a large, global, highly matrixed organization, and works easily in multi-business unit project settings.
  • Understanding of legal terms and implications; ability to redline contracts aligned with legal guidelines.
  • Contract drafting experience as well as excellent understanding of contractual terms, both commercially and legally.
  • Leads category, sourcing strategy and demand planning discussions, using group facilitation strengths and experience.
  • Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, effective controls and monitoring processes.
  • Experience in using eSourcing tools including eRFx, reverse auctions, project management tools, and contract management tools Ariba or similar (sourcing and contracting), ServiceNow, Oracle, SAP, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex sourcing categories across diverse global portfolios (30+ countries) and varying property types a plus.

  • $125,000 - $165,000 + Budget
