About the Role
Service, set-up, and break-down assigned functions in a safe, accident-free manner. Provide warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance to guests.
Responsibilities
- Read BEO's and identify necessary equipment for function set-up.
- Set tables correctly and uniformly with proper equipment in assigned areas.
- Set up buffets with food presentation and table preparation before events.
- Maintain neat and clean buffet stations while servicing guests according to policies.
- Utilize proper in-room clearing and aisle tray break-down techniques for buffets and special food service tables.
- Assist Banquet Captain with setting up and breaking down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment.
- Greet and serve guests following established food and beverage service guidelines.
- Complete assigned paperwork for each event or function.
- Perform side work during and after events.
- Organize and stock products or prepare for next day's events during server downtime.
- Return, wipe down, and maintain neatness of all used equipment in banquet areas.
- Dispose of served buffet food properly.
- Address leftover, untouched food in hot boxes or coolers with the Chef's before the event regarding post-event handling.
- Label, date, and store saved food properly.
- Return and properly store all unused equipment in designated storage areas.
- Ensure banquet areas are neat, clean, wiped down, and ready for the next day's business.
Requirements
- High School diploma/secondary qualification or equivalent.
- Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt processes and standards.
- Thorough knowledge of the catering and food profession for analytical work.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures and ability to determine courses of action.
- Supervision/management skills.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Moderate hearing ability for equipment timers and staff communication.
- Excellent vision for appropriate product preparation.
- Moderate speech communication skills for staff interaction.
- Moderate comprehension and literacy to read and understand BEO's.
- Ability to perform lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying essential for heavy production.
- Ability to bend when using lower ovens for cooking.
- Full range of mobility and ability to travel 30-50 feet regularly throughout the day.
- Ability to stand for up to one hour at a time, 3-5 times a day, during preparation or plate-up.
- Passionate about people and service.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with guests and employees.
- Reading and writing abilities used for paperwork, logging issues/complaints/requests/information updates.
- Basic math skills used for handling cash or credit.
- Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
