About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Adult Acute Inpatient team at Denmark Hill on a locum basis. This role involves managing adult acute inpatient caseloads, with previous experience in a Critical Care Unit (CCU) being highly desirable. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team, providing specialist assessment and intervention for adults with communication and swallowing disorders.

Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication and swallowing difficulties within an acute inpatient setting.
Provide specialist assessment and management for patients within the Critical Care Unit (CCU), where required.
Deliver evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care, rehabilitation, and discharge planning.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and local trust standards.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.

Requirements

A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
HCPC registration.
Previous experience working with adult acute inpatient caseloads.
Ideally, prior experience working within a Critical Care Unit (CCU).
Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
