About the Role

Standard Life is seeking a Head of Performance & Analysis to join the Group FP&A team. This strategic role involves owning the Group's performance reporting and management information, delivering timely reports, and providing robust forecasts to support transparency for senior leadership and the Board. The position focuses on enhancing reporting frameworks, identifying performance gaps and opportunities, and translating external intelligence into actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality, timely reporting that measures performance against plan.
  • Provide robust forecasts to support transparency for the Life/Group CFO, Executive Committee (ExCo), and the Board.
  • Focus on enhancing reporting frameworks and processes to enable better decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Shape the organisation’s understanding of its market position.
  • Identify performance gaps and opportunities.
  • Translate external intelligence into actionable recommendations.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders, including ExCo, to define and measure performance against KPIs aligned with the strategic direction of the organisation.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in FP&A, commercial, or strategic finance roles with a strong track record of delivering insight-driven analysis that has influenced key business decisions.
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of financial frameworks (in Financial Services sector), revenue drivers, and market dynamics.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to extract meaningful insights from available data.
  • Experience building strong relationships with senior leaders, including ExCo, and confidence in constructive challenge.
  • Ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
  • Ability to communicate insights effectively to non-financial stakeholders, translating complex information into compelling narratives that support strategic decision-making.
  • Understanding of commercial levers and key industry performance metrics.
  • Deep knowledge of the drivers behind P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and working capital.
