About the Role
The Strategic Finance Manager provides rigorous, decision-ready analysis across Go-to-Market, pricing, commercial performance, and market strategy. This role combines hands-on quantitative work with the ability to translate findings into clear recommendations for a senior, commercially sophisticated audience. It is a high-autonomy position suited to a candidate motivated by exposure to genuine strategic decisions and who can take ownership of analysis from problem definition through to recommendation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain data modeling and analysis for tiering, packaging, and pricing decisions across the product portfolio.
- Analyze feature adoption, willingness-to-pay, competitive benchmarking, and ARR impact.
- Translate subscription and billing data into cohort performance and churn risk analysis.
- Develop actionable commercial recommendations based on subscription and billing data.
- Build market-sizing and segmentation models using public, third-party, and internal data.
- Support entry into new market segments and adjacencies.
- Act as an analytical partner to senior leadership, framing problems and building models.
- Produce concise outputs for decision-making and communication.
- Partner with FP&A to embed strategic GtM decisions into the annual plan, budget, and re-forecasting.
- Ensure strategic intent is reflected in revenue and bookings targets, cost assumptions, and KPIs.
- Prepare board-grade analysis with excellent presentation skills.
Requirements
- Three to six years of relevant experience.
- Experience combining a foundation in a Big 4 firm (Deloitte, EY, KPMG or PwC) or a strategy consultancy with an in-house commercial or Strategy Business Analyst role.
- Direct experience within a SaaS or recurring-revenue business.
- Sound understanding of SaaS metrics including ARR, net revenue retention, gross margin, CAC/LTV, and the Rule of 40.
- Strong quantitative skill set.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills are essential.
- Ability to write SQL to source and interrogate data independently.
- Ability to convert analysis into clear recommendations.
- Effective communication of recommendations in writing and presentations to a senior audience.
- High standard of ownership and accuracy.
- Discipline to validate assumptions before presenting conclusions.
- Confidence to challenge findings that do not hold up.
- Experience within a private-equity-backed business and familiarity with associated reporting cadence and scrutiny (Desirable).
- Familiarity with a modern data stack (e.g., Snowflake) and a business intelligence tool (e.g., Power BI) (Desirable).
- Confident use of AI tools as part of day-to-day working practice (Desirable).
- Sector interest in education, the public sector, or B2B software (Desirable).
