About the Role

The Manager, Community Safety leads initiatives to foster a safe, respectful, and supportive campus environment. This role monitors campus and student safety developments, ensuring institutional programs and policies align with best practices. Responsibilities include implementing safety programs, identifying risks, responding to incidents, and conducting investigations related to student conduct and policy violations.

Responsibilities

Conduct investigations into student conduct, safety concerns, and violations of applicable University policies.
Coordinate responses to safety-related incidents, including risk assessments, threat management, safety plans, and follow-up support.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet program and departmental goals.
Serve as a liaison between Huron University and external partners.
Collaborate with Huron’s Security Supervisor and support the oversight of a 3rd party security team.
Manage programs that promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive campus environment.
Focus on continuous improvement and innovation in campus safety standards, programs, and assessments.
Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and track safety-related data.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Law and Security, Criminology, Psychology, Risk Management, or a related field.
Five to seven years of experience in investigations, trauma-informed interviews, safety planning, dispute resolution, and mediation.
Experience working in a post-secondary learning environment is an asset.
Working knowledge of relevant laws and legislation with proven ability in applying it.
Some understanding of the Criminal Code of Canada is an asset.
