About the Role

WildBrain is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager for its Business and Legal Affairs Team in Toronto. This role involves drafting, reviewing, administering, and negotiating content rights, development, and production agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and administer production agreements, rights acquisition agreements, and above-the-line talent agreements.
  • Oversee and review development and production paperwork prepared by legal coordinators.
  • Manage the preparation of series start-up paperwork with guilds and unions (WGC, WGA, ACTRA, DGC).
  • Liaise with guilds and unions regarding relevant matters.
  • Stay updated on funding guidelines and guild/union agreements.
  • Collaborate with business teams to ensure creative objectives align with legal, guild, and union requirements.
  • Escalate significant business and legal matters to the Senior Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience in entertainment/media industries in a deal-facing role (e.g., Business Affairs, Contracts Manager).
  • Experience as a paralegal or contract administrator is an asset.
  • Strong proofreading skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with external and internal contacts.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities.
  • Excellent, proactive client service skills.
  • Sound judgment for effective decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Positive, professional team player capable of working independently.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to embrace continuous improvement.
