Responsibilities
- Inspects and tests vehicles to ensure equipment availability.
- Performs preventive maintenance, including engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, and filter replacement.
- Repairs engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, and body damage.
- Conducts test drives to verify vehicle serviceability and adjusts controls and systems.
- Tests engine, safety, and combustion control standards to comply with state vehicle requirements.
- Maintains vehicle appearance through cleaning, washing, and painting.
- Records service and repair information.
- Maintains shop equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Manages costs by utilizing warranties and evaluating service and parts options.
- Maintains supply inventory by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Enhances job knowledge through educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Achieves maintenance and organization goals by completing related results as needed.
