Responsibilities
- Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles.
- Complete preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, and replacing filters.
- Maintain the functional condition of the vehicle by listening to operator complaints, conducting inspections, repairing engine failures, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, and replacing parts and components.
- Repair body damage.
- Verify the serviceability of a vehicle by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
- Comply with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
- Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
- Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Accomplish maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
