About the Role

Responsibilities

• Maintain food preparation facilities in a clean, neat, and Toronto Public Health compliant way.
• Set up and dismantle buffets.
• Remove waste products.
• Handle all kitchen cleaning chemicals.
• Reorganize equipment, plates, and small wares in storage.
• Clean pots, dishes, and kitchen equipment.
• Restock washed and dried items in their proper locations.
• Operate and monitor dishwashing machines for proper performance and chemical levels.
• Ensure the kitchen is properly cleaned before ending shift.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors and walk-in coolers twice daily.
• Ensure all cooking and kitchen equipment is turned off nightly.
• Set up, polish, and remove all items required for buffet cooking and hot holding.
• Monitor and clean drains and grease traps.
• Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by Chef, Sous Chef, or first cooks.

Requirements

• Must be able to protect themselves and others from misuse of chemical and cleaning products.
• Must be able to apply common sense to all situations.
• Must be able to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Must be able to interact with coworkers in a positive manner.
• Must be WHIMIS trained.
• Must be available for all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Candidates 18 years or older may be required to complete a criminal background check.
