About the Role

As a (Senior) AI Engineer, you will develop AI-powered automation solutions that run productively in our clients' business processes, providing them with a measurable competitive advantage. This ranges from intelligent document processing to agentic systems that independently handle process steps. Your technological foundation will be the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) / Business AI Platform, combined with other cloud and AI platforms of our clients. Detailed knowledge of the SAP target system (S/4HANA or ECC) is not required initially, as we will build this depth together with you.

Responsibilities

Conceive and develop AI solutions that specifically automate manual work in business processes.
Integrate AI solutions into existing system landscapes via SAP and non-SAP APIs.
Develop using Python (e.g., FastAPI, LangGraph) and Node.js/TypeScript (including SAP CAP).
Operate confidently within client landscapes, including SAP BTP, Hyperscalers, or specialized AI platforms, considering and co-designing architectural frameworks.
Take responsibility for solutions from requirements gathering to go-live, including evaluation, monitoring, and ongoing development.
Lead client workshops, present results, and convincingly represent architectural decisions to clients.
Actively contribute to our Business AI team, shaping our methods, frameworks, and internal products.

Requirements

Very good Python skills, especially in LLM integration and orchestration.
Experience with Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript) and a good understanding of distributed applications.
Practical experience with generative AI from projects, research, or personal endeavors.
Familiarity with concepts like Tool Calling, Context Management, structured outputs, and evaluation, and understanding how to build agentic solutions.
Ability to navigate a dynamic technology field independently.
Develop viable solution approaches where established patterns are lacking.
Critically evaluate new tools and share insights within the team.
A technical degree or comparable qualification with demonstrable practical experience.
Openness to SAP technologies and willingness to learn BTP and ERP integration scenarios.
Awareness of the requirements of regulated industries, such as data protection and data sovereignty, and incorporating them into solutions.
Professional demeanor, strong communication skills in German and English.
Enjoy taking responsibility in projects and workshops.
Hands-on experience with the productive operation of agentic or multi-agent systems (optional).
In-depth knowledge of LLM observability and evaluation pipelines, and experience designing Human-in-the-Loop governance in productive systems (optional).
Knowledge of SAP Fiori/UI5 or modern web frontends (e.g., React) (optional).
Knowledge of business processes, especially in the SAP context (optional).
