About the Role

Behavior Technicians (BTs) will work in the home setting on Long Island, providing direct behavior-analytic services to clients. BTs will follow behavior intervention plans designed and supervised by a BCBA to help individuals develop and improve skills in communication, social interactions, daily living, and academic performance. The role involves collecting progress data and participating in team meetings. Training and certification are provided for those new to the role.

Responsibilities

Implement specific behavior intervention strategies designed by a BCBA, including skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
Accurately record data on client behaviors and progress towards goals using prescribed data collection systems.
Implement various teaching methods, such as Discrete Trial training and Natural Environment Teaching, to assist students in making targeted academic and behavioral gains.
Work directly with clients in various settings (home, school, community) to promote skill development and behavior change.
Assist BCBAs in conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and other assessments as needed.
Attend training sessions and receive ongoing feedback to improve service delivery and implementation of behavior plans.
Maintain open and effective communication with supervisors, team members, clients, and their families.
Complete necessary documentation, including progress notes, session summaries, and incident reports.
Adhere to the ethical guidelines and standards of the BACB.

Requirements

A current RBT certification is preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavior challenges is preferred, but not required.
Able to pass a background check.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and observational skills.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols.
Proficient in data collection and basic computer skills.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping individuals improve their quality of life.
