About the Role

The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) provides an inclusive, diverse, equitable, safe, and healthy education that supports learning and success both personally and academically to the residents of Lunenburg and Queens Counties.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cleaning tasks as outlined in cleaning run assignments.
• Reports cleaning problems and maintenance requirements of the building or cleaning equipment to the Head Custodian or Manager of Property Services.
• Cooperates with other administrative, custodial, and maintenance staff.
• Assists with annual cleaning of radiators and dusting of light shades.
• Cleans snow around entrances and spreads salt.
• Carries out grounds care assignments.
• Assists the Head Custodian with maintenance issues or performs routine maintenance functions as necessary.
• Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Attention to detail and demonstrated long-term improvement in work skills.
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff.
• Cleaning experience or other work background, and willingness to learn cleaning skills.
• Completion of WHMIS and first aid training.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check and a Nova Scotia Child Abuse Register Check (checks completed within the last 3 months accepted).
