About the Role

This role involves leading a team in the installation, service, and troubleshooting of fire sprinkler systems across various building types. The Foreman is responsible for project completion, budget adherence, quality control, and ensuring a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Installation of fire sprinkler systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
  • Installation, service, and troubleshooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems and related equipment
  • Oversee, direct, and delegate tasks to fitters and helpers to meet project deadlines and goals
  • Complete assigned projects in a timely manner and within budget
  • Ensure all projects are completed flawlessly
  • Work on projects independently
  • Interpret installation requirements from project drawings
  • Update daily installation progress notes on job contract drawings (asbuilts)
  • Communicate necessary change orders to management for approval
  • Perform tasks such as threading and grooving pipe, cutting hanger rods, climbing ladders, hanging pipe, reading blueprints, layout, maintaining a clean work area, and using appropriate equipment
  • Present weekly toolbox talks to employees
  • Provide a safe working environment for employees
  • Complete all training requirements (Safety, Certifications, etc.)
  • Submit accurate timesheets on time
  • Ensure all required documents are complete, accurate, and professional
  • Manage inventory, review, update, and approve packing slips
  • Ensure proper maintenance and care of equipment (trucks, lifts, tools, etc.)
  • Keep jobsites clean and organized
  • Ensure production efficiency and communicate with superintendent regarding budget vs. actual labor hours
  • Support and ensure adherence to Company SOPs (Purchase Orders, Change Orders, etc.)
  • Maintain timeliness in job arrival, attendance, communication with supervisor, and paperwork
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and respond to feedback for improvement
  • Maintain quality control to reduce return trips and warranty work
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Communicate effectively and professionally within the department and with internal/external customers
  • Maintain positive interactions within the team and with the local office
  • Actively participate in required team meetings

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Fire Sprinkler Foreman with leading team experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a fire sprinkler apprentice/fitter, preferred
  • Knowledge of fire sprinkler piping systems, including fabrication, materials, and joining methods
  • Understanding of fire protection installation requirements
  • Ability to properly read fire protection blueprints
  • Knowledgeable with NFPA 13 rules and all necessary codes
  • Ability to interact and communicate in a professional and positive manner with other trades, customers, project managers, county officials, general contractors, etc.
  • Demonstrate positive teamwork and ability to be a team leader and mentor
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Comply with all company safety practices and the safety handbook
  • Complete projects in a timely manner while providing the highest standard of quality work and customer satisfaction
  • Ability to take direction from upper management
  • Accurately complete and maintain all paperwork
  • Maintain vehicle and tools as per company policy
  • Must have valid state driver's license and good driving record
  • Ability to work overtime, out of town or on-call as needed
