About the Role
The Weekend Meteorologist/Reporter will present the weekend weather forecast and report three days a week, responsible for weather cast content on-air and digital platforms.
Responsibilities
- Forecasting, producing, and presenting clear and concise weather casts that tell a story and connect with viewers.
- Issuing warnings and alerts, producing graphics and maps, and reporting live during weather events.
- Utilizing social media during severe weather and writing weather stories.
- Making public appearances on behalf of the station.
- Pitching story ideas, developing contacts, and reporting three days a week.
- Collaborating with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations.
Requirements
- Ability to tell memorable and meaningful stories with visual and compelling storytelling.
- Demonstrated experience with active and visual live shots.
- In-depth knowledge of forecasting.
- Sharp news judgment and exceptional writing skills.
- Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Years of experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred.
