About the Role

The Facilities Technician is responsible for maintenance, repair, and cleaning duties for County facilities, ensuring reliable operations of the facilities, grounds, and equipment. This role may involve operating boilers, painting, performing minor plumbing and HVAC repairs, and maintaining furniture, equipment, buildings, and grounds.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic and routine inspection activities on Building Automation Systems, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and plumbing, electrical equipment systems for County facilities.
• Prioritizes work orders.
• Maintains grounds including lawn mowing, snow removal, and operation of snow removal equipment.
• Monitors and maintains materials, equipment, inventory, and supplies.
• Performs a variety of minor construction and equipment maintenance activities.
• Changes filters and maintains HVAC equipment.
• Performs minor plumbing repairs.
• Maintains a variety of records related to operations and maintenance, service requests, and facilities maintenance activities.
• Maintains and repairs items in the Jail.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• 4 years facility maintenance experience
• A valid Driver’s License
• First Class C Boiler Engineer’s License
• Ability to perform some electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs
• Ability to use written and verbal instructions
• Ability to use applicable tools and equipment related to area of assignment
• Ability to perform basic trades maintenance activities
• Ability to troubleshoot systems related to area of assignment
• Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of maintenance records
• Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange or convey information and receive work direction.
• Must be able to prioritize workload.
• Able to work in confined spaces and elevated spaces.
• Must perform walking, bending, squatting, turning/twisting, kneeling, climbing, reaching out, reaching up, grasping, wrist turning and finger manipulation on a constant basis.
