About the Role

The Max Planck Institute for Educational Research in Berlin is an internationally oriented scientific institute focused on understanding human development, the factors influencing it, and how to enable individuals to reach their full potential throughout life. We research behavior, development, and competencies in relation to our physical, social, and technological environment. Our working languages are German and English.

Responsibilities

Ensure the reliable operation and further development of our client environment together with the team and actively contribute to the design of our services.
Operation, administration, and further development of our heterogeneous client environment (Windows, macOS, and Ubuntu).
Installation, configuration, and inventory of client hardware and software.
Standardized deployment of clients including OS deployment, software distribution, and patch and update management.
Further development and operation of our endpoint management solutions (baramundi and Jamf).
Implementation of security policies and measures to improve the security and stability of client systems.
Analysis and resolution of faults in 2nd and 3rd level support.
Automation and further development of processes and operating procedures in client management using scripting and suitable tools.
Participation in the expansion and operation of the Ubuntu client environment, including automated installation (e.g., Autoinstall/Preseed).

Requirements

Structured and service-oriented work approach, taking responsibility and interest in jointly developing modern client environments within the team.
Completed university degree in computer science or a comparable training as a specialist in IT with corresponding professional experience.
Experience in system administration or client/endpoint management.
Knowledge in the administration of Windows, macOS, and/or Ubuntu clients.
Experience with endpoint management systems (e.g., Intune, Jamf, Baramundi, Puppet, or similar).
Experience in automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, or Puppet).
Strong service and team orientation as well as a structured, self-reliant way of working.
Good German and English language skills, both written and spoken.
