About the Role

The Design Engineer will be a key member of the Solar PV design team, supporting strategic growth through direct engagement with Business Development, Sales, and Operations teams. The role focuses on end-to-end processes from lead-to-contract through to execution, ensuring technical excellence and project optimization.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary data analysis and develop technical recommendations for potential PV Solar assets.
• Execute preliminary and detailed designs focusing on technical configuration and optimization.
• Conduct simulations using PV-Syst, Helioscope, and Homer.
• Develop Solar AutoCAD layouts, mechanical and installation details, and project single line diagrams.
• Prepare solar lab reports, shading analysis, and basis of offers.
• Ensure compliance with utility standards regarding design, safety, and environment.
• Maintain knowledge transfer between core design and execution teams.
• Understand region-specific regulations for Solar PV project development.
• Build guaranteed energy output tables for commercial and contractual purposes.
• Manage project estimation sheets (CAPEX & OPEX) and project schedules.
• Optimize designs for competitiveness without compromising quality.
• Align with Supply Chain on solar product pricing and availability.
• Attend kick-off meetings to collect design enhancement feedback.
• Provide technical expertise during site surveys for solar solutions and electrical integrations.
• Coordinate with the Project Execution team to ensure construction aligns with approved designs and standards.
• Support the Project Execution team during inspection, installation, and testing stages.
• Attend supplier training to stay updated on new technologies.
• Introduce innovative ideas for design optimization and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputed institution.
• Hands-on design experience with solar PV software such as PVSyst, Helioscope, SketchUp, or Homer.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of cable-sizing calculation and LV/MV electrical panel design and optimization.
• Comprehensive understanding of solar technologies and products.
• Knowledge of solar product code certifications and authority testing requirements.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in the Solar PV design field in the UAE.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
