Responsibilities

  • Offer companionship and conversation.
  • Stimulate and encourage through a variety of activities (e.g., clothing selection, hobbies, and crafts).
  • Accompany clients to appointments and social events (e.g., visiting friends or family, lunch, club meetings).
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks (dusting, vacuuming, making beds, changing linens, cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, washing and ironing, taking out rubbish, caring for houseplants).
  • Organize and tidy cupboards, check food expiry dates, and assist with shopping.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of food safety and ability to cook a variety of meals from raw ingredients.
  • Assist with pet care.
  • Help with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assist with continence care.
  • Consider and understand the point of view of the person with Dementia/Alzheimer's.
  • Assist with morning and evening routines.

Requirements

  • Ability to listen, communicate clearly, and build relationships with clients and their families in a friendly and pleasant manner.
  • Respect for people with different backgrounds and beliefs, and who may have a range of medical conditions.
  • Commitment to non-discriminatory care practice.
  • Excellent timekeeping, organization, and reliability.
  • Good hygiene practice, including personal hygiene and a smart appearance.
  • Must obtain an Enhanced Disclosure from the relevant body.
  • Class 1 business insurance (if using own car for business purposes) or reliable transport.

Salary/Compensations

  • £13.75 an Hour
  • Enhanced Pay on bank holidays
