About the Role

Join Pepper's First Line Risk team to protect the mortgage business from fraud, financial crime, and operational risk. This role will lead complex investigations, identify emerging risks, and strengthen controls to ensure customer and business safety.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex fraud investigations and act as a senior escalation point
  • Investigate suspicious activity, falsified documentation and emerging fraud trends
  • Identify control gaps and recommend improvements to reduce risk
  • Deliver assurance and quality reviews across mortgage credit
  • Analyse data and reporting to identify trends and insights
  • Coach and support team members
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and risk uplift activities

Requirements

  • Experience in fraud investigations, first line risk or assurance within financial services
  • Strong understanding of lending, mortgage operations or credit assessment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify trends, control weaknesses and emerging risks
  • Knowledge of AML, NCCP and regulatory obligations
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience coaching or providing guidance to others
  • Advanced Excel skills, with exposure to Power BI highly regarded
