About the Role

Liverpool City Council is seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic professional to join a dynamic team responsible for protecting, promoting, and enhancing environmental health standards within the Liverpool Local Government area.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake regulatory inspections under relevant environmental and public health legislation
  • Inspect food premises, skin penetration premises, hairdressers, cooling towers, swimming and spa pools, and on-site sewage management systems
  • Conduct environmental pollution investigations and manage public health complaints
  • Assess air, noise, contaminated land, and wastewater reports
  • Collect evidence for warning letters, Improvement and Prohibition notices, and breach reports
  • Issue Penalty Infringement Notices and statements of evidence
  • Brief legal counsel
  • Perform after-hours night inspections and weekend inspections of temporary events as required
  • Implement and conduct environmental health education programs

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health or equivalent
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Check
  • Ability to undergo a pre-employment medical check

Skills

  • Investigation, monitoring, and inspection of premises for compliance
  • Knowledge of Local Government Act 1993, Food Act 2003, Public Health Act 2010, and Protection of the Environmental Operations Act 1997
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and implement legislation
  • Time management and efficiency

Salary/Compensations

  • $117,664.95 to $128,930.71
  • 12% superannuation
