About the Role
Liverpool City Council has an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer to join a dynamic team responsible for protecting, promoting, and enhancing environmental health standards within the Liverpool Local Government area.
Responsibilities
- Undertake regulatory inspections under relevant environmental and public health legislation.
- Inspect food premises, skin penetration premises, hairdressers, cooling towers, swimming and spa pools, and on-site sewage management systems.
- Conduct environmental pollution investigations.
- Address public health complaints.
- Assess air, noise, contaminated land, and wastewater reports.
- Implement and conduct environmental health education programs.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health or equivalent.
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
- Experience in the investigation, monitoring, and inspection of premises to ensure compliance with public and environmental health standards.
- Understanding of the role and responsibilities of Local Government in relation to the regulation of public and environmental health.
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation associated with environmental health including the Local Government Act 1993, Food Act 2003, Public Health Act 2010, Protection of the Environmental Operations Act 1997 and regulations thereunder.
- Ability to interpret and implement legislation.
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Required to obtain a National Police Check.
- May be required to undergo a pre-employment medical check.
