About the Role

This role combines Product Management, Engineering, and Ownership. You will plan, implement, and drive the development of internal services including the website with store, backoffice integrations, and core product functionalities. You will modernize existing PHP stacks and migrate legacy functionalities to a maintainable, future-proof infrastructure, deciding what to keep, rebuild, or retire. You will also leverage AI tools to accelerate development, understand legacy code, and automate routines.

Responsibilities

Take end-to-end responsibility for internal services: website with store, backoffice integrations, and central product functions.
Modernize established PHP stacks and migrate legacy functionalities to maintainable, future-proof infrastructure.
Plan, write code, deliver, and stand by the results.
Utilize AI tools to build faster, understand legacy systems, and automate routines.

Requirements

Several years of experience as an engineer in a web or full-stack environment (PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, modern frameworks).
Ability to understand and incrementally improve existing, established code.
Product mindset and genuine ownership: drive initiatives rather than waiting for assignments, and use stakeholder communication effectively.
Proficient daily use of AI tools (AI First is a methodology, not just a buzzword).
Very good German language skills (C1) and good English language skills.
Residency in Berlin or a concrete desire to relocate.
Experience with migrating or replacing legacy systems (a plus).
Experience with e-commerce or store systems (a plus).
DevOps and infrastructure knowledge (CI/CD, server migration, containerization) (a plus).
Experience in Healthcare IT or regulated industries (a plus).
