About the Role
Texas Oncology is seeking an Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to support the South Austin location, with occasional assistance for the Lakeway location. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm, with no weekend, call, or major holiday duties. The role can be filled at a Level 1, 2, or Sr level, depending on the candidate's experience.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care, promoting continuity consistent with established standards.
- Assess patient and family needs, providing education and instructional materials.
- Prepare and administer therapies under physician direction and supervision.
- Administer all medications and blood products accurately, ensuring correct medication, dosage, route, time, and technique.
- Obtain pre-authorization and necessary consent forms before therapy administration.
- Facilitate dose modifications by assessing patients, reviewing labs, consulting protocols, calculating doses, and consulting physicians on modifications, problems, and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education.
- RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
