About the Role

As Credit Strategy and Portfolio Manager, you'll shape the credit frameworks that enable AMP Bank's Business Finance portfolio to grow safely, sustainably, and at scale. You will own the Line 1 credit engine, driving credit strategy, policy, portfolio performance, and risk discipline to ensure consistent decision-making, early risk identification, and strong risk-adjusted returns while supporting complex structured lending opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead credit strategy and policy, translating risk appetite into practical frameworks that support scalable business growth.
  • Strengthen underwriting excellence through clear standards, covenant frameworks, templates, and guidance that improve decision quality and consistency.
  • Own portfolio performance and oversight, monitoring risk trends, concentrations, arrears, and emerging issues through effective reporting and early warning indicators.
  • Manage complex structured credit exposures, including borrowing bases, cashflow waterfalls, covenant management, and ongoing portfolio discipline.
  • Enhance governance and decisioning, maintaining delegation frameworks, improving risk-based pricing, and using portfolio insights to continuously refine origination standards.

Requirements

  • Significant experience (8+ years) in commercial banking credit, portfolio risk, or credit policy.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting or materially influencing credit policy and underwriting standards.
  • Strong background in portfolio monitoring, watchlist, covenant management, and remediation.
  • Experience operating across Line 1 / Line 2 interfaces in regulated lending.
  • Strong understanding of SME cashflow lending and recurring revenue businesses.
  • Experience in professional services lending highly desirable.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, economics, commerce, or risk-related discipline desirable.
  • Ability to adapt from BAU to the ambiguous with ease.
  • Commitment, grit, and a growth mindset.
