About the Role
This position combines business education with leadership development by teaching business-related coursework and mentoring students as they prepare for DECA conferences, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Teach high school courses in entrepreneurship, business principles, marketing, financial literacy, economics, and personal finance.
- Design project-based learning experiences connecting classroom concepts to real-world business challenges.
- Encourage creativity, innovation, communication, and problem-solving.
- Serve as advisor for the HSArts DECA chapter.
- Recruit, mentor, and prepare students for DECA competitions and conferences.
- Coach students in business presentations, case studies, entrepreneurship events, and leadership activities.
- Help students develop professionalism, teamwork, public speaking, and leadership skills.
- Coordinate competition registration, travel, and chapter activities.
Requirements
- Valid California teaching credential with authorization to teach business-related subjects, or eligibility to teach business education courses.
- Experience teaching business, entrepreneurship, economics, marketing, or related subjects preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Passion for mentoring students and helping them discover their interests and talents.
