About the Role
Qualcomm is seeking talented engineers for CPU RTL development focused on high-performance, low-power devices utilizing the RISC-V Architecture. As a CPU Micro-architecture and RTL Design Engineer, you will collaborate with chip architects on micro-architecture conception and contribute to architecture/product definition throughout the product life-cycle.
Responsibilities
- Explore high-performance strategies in collaboration with the CPU modeling team.
- Develop and specify micro-architecture from early architectural exploration to detailed specification.
- Develop, assess, and refine RTL design to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals.
- Support the design verification team in executing the functional verification strategy.
- Verify that the RTL design meets performance goals.
- Work with multi-functional engineering teams to implement and validate physical design aspects including timing, area, reliability, and testability.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of microprocessor architecture, with expertise in areas such as instruction fetch and decode, branch prediction, instruction scheduling and register renaming, out-of-order execution, integer and floating point execution, load/store execution, prefetching, cache and memory subsystems.
- Knowledge of Verilog and/or VHDL.
- Experience with simulators and waveform debugging tools.
- Knowledge of logic design principles, including timing and power implications.
- Understanding of low-power microarchitecture techniques.
- Understanding of high-performance techniques and trade-offs in CPU microarchitecture.
- Experience using a scripting language such as Perl or Python.
