About the Role

Provide trusted legal, regulatory, and governance advice to enable the insurance and advice business to achieve its strategic goals while protecting customers and reputation. Play a key part in supporting retail life insurance and corporate teams, influencing business outcomes, managing risk, and supporting innovation in a digitally focused organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, commercially focused legal advice on business initiatives and decisions
  • Identify and manage legal, regulatory and governance risks across the business
  • Draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial contracts and agreements
  • Support complaints handling, disputes resolution and regulatory interactions
  • Contribute to compliance frameworks and governance processes
  • Stay across legislative and regulatory changes and share insights with stakeholders

Requirements

  • A law degree and a current practising certificate in New South Wales
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in financial services law, ideally covering life insurance and financial advice
  • Strong knowledge of Australian financial services regulation and industry practices
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and managing legal risk
  • The ability to analyse complex issues and communicate advice in a clear, simple way
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across all levels of an organisation
