About the Role

VTG is seeking a mid-career full-stack software engineer to lead technical execution on projects impacting national security and industrial base resilience. This role involves owning significant design and architecture decisions, mentoring junior developers, and partnering with government stakeholders in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and lead development of full-stack features
• Own front-end architecture using React and establish patterns for data-rich user experiences
• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs using Python
• Lead integration of structured and unstructured data sources for supply chain risk analytics
• Drive technical planning within an Agile/Scrum team using Jira
• Enforce code quality standards, conduct code reviews, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab
• Lead data modeling and visualization efforts aligned to DoD risk taxonomies
• Serve as a technical lead in requirements refinement and architecture discussions with government stakeholders
• Own documentation for Risk Management Framework (RMF) alignment and auditability
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers
• Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies
• Develop and execute Software Test Plans (STPs) and test cases
• Perform functional and regression testing to validate features and defect fixes
• Support debugging and root cause analysis (RCA) of defects
• Document test results, defect reports, and requirements traceability matrices (RTM)

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5-8+ years of professional software development experience including full-stack delivery
• Advanced proficiency in Python for backend development and API design
• Demonstrated experience building and architecting front-end applications using React or similar frameworks
• Strong command of Git-based version control workflows, specifically GitLab
• Proven experience operating in Agile development environments
• Track record of leading technical design discussions and making architectural decisions
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate autonomously
• Experience authoring and executing Software Test Plans (STPs) and test cases
• Working knowledge of unit testing frameworks like pytest or Jest
