About the Role
The Information is seeking a reporter to break news and write deeply reported features on venture capital and startups. The reporter will scoop hot startup funding rounds, report on startup financials, and cover influential VC firms, their leaders, and their returns. They will also write features on emerging trends and have opportunities to co-write award-winning franchises, moderate conferences, and appear on a streaming video show. This role offers a collaborative team environment with active coaching from editors and senior reporters.
Responsibilities
- Break news about VC deals, including funds, performance, and leadership changes
- Write in-depth profiles of the most important investors, startup founders and trends
- Immerse oneself in the topic to write with authority and generate story ideas
- Contribute to editorial products such as Next GP list, TI 50 and org charts
- Keep and cultivate relationships with trusted sources
- Work with colleagues out of our three newsrooms
Requirements
- At least two years of business reporting experience
- A track record of scoop-based reporting in business, technology or politics
- Ability to cultivate sources and develop a beat
- Familiarity with major developments in tech and finance over the last three years
- Bachelor's degree
- The ability to work out of The Information’s San Francisco office

Salary/Compensations
- 120,000 - 200,000 USD Annually + Bonus
