About the Role

As a Professional Officer Serology, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of diagnostic testing capabilities that support the protection of NSW agricultural industries, animals and trade markets. In this role, you will undertake research and development activities to improve serological testing methods, evaluate emerging technologies and provide specialist technical expertise to laboratory teams and clients. Working closely with scientists, pathologists and technical staff, you will help deliver accurate and reliable diagnostic outcomes while identifying opportunities to improve laboratory performance, efficiency and quality systems. You will also play an important role in coordinating laboratory workflows, maintaining accreditation standards and fostering a safe, collaborative and high-performing laboratory environment. Requirements

Demonstrated experience in serology, diagnostic testing, laboratory science or applied research.
Strong knowledge of laboratory quality systems and a commitment to maintaining standards aligned with ISO17025.
Ability to provide technical advice and translate complex testing outcomes for a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Proven capability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
A collaborative mindset with a passion for scientific innovation, continuous improvement and workplace safety.
Prior experience in emergency disease response work will also be highly regarded.
Degree qualification in Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science, Science or a related field.
Undergo a police check, health assessment and other assessments as required.
