About the Role

Perform the duties of a clinician utilizing ICU/ED hospital experience, adhering to company management and Department of Health standards.

Responsibilities

• Participate in shift crew briefings.
• Complete company time sheets accurately and timely.
• Maintain proficiency and currency through company training programs.
• Perform pre and post-flight aircraft inspections to ensure cleanliness and operability of medical and safety equipment per regulations.
• Provide patient care according to company "Standards of Care" and NYSDOH guidelines.
• Complete annual clinical requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and functionality of work areas.
• Complete assigned "Shift Duties and Responsibilities" in a timely manner.
• Participate in the company Quality Management program.
• Attend all company meetings.
• Adhere to quarterly skills requirements.
• Collect flight reimbursement information accurately and completely.
• Complete patient care documentation accurately and completely.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Perform advanced procedures for all patient populations upon completion of training and with on-line medical control.
• Obtain subjective and objective patient data using systematic rapid primary assessment and prioritized secondary approach.
• Formulate care based on findings and working diagnosis.
• Initiate prioritized, appropriate, and timely interventions based on standards, standing orders, or on-line medical control.
• Evaluate interventions, reassess, and modify care plan throughout patient transfer.
• Utilize Medical Control for deviations from Standards of Care.
• Provide information, comfort, psychosocial, and physical support to patients and families.
• Prevent and decrease environmental stress exposure to patients.
• Maintain professional communications and interpersonal skills with the transport team and involved parties.
• Document patient care thoroughly per policy and procedure.
• Perform proper radio communications.
• Complete flight debriefing, patient follow-up, and agency follow-up.
• Complete physician’s order sheet for procedures via EMS Charts documentation.
• Maintain equipment and supplies.
• Complete shift duties in a timely manner.
• Participate in Quality Management.
• Engage in teaching and public speaking.
• Participate in research development, implementation, and evaluation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum three years ED or ICU experience.
• Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) within one year of hire.
• Maintain proficiency and currency according to the standards of AHA, ACS, ACEP, AAP, and NYSDOH.
• Possess and maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support for the Experienced Provider (ACLS-EP).
• Possess and maintain certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Possess and maintain certification in Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (CPR).
• Possess and maintain certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or receive certification within one year of hire.
• Possess, or obtain within 90 days of hire, certification in NIMS courses: ICS-700, ICS-100, ICS-200.
• Possess and maintain, or obtain per policy, course completion in one of the following Advanced Trauma Care Courses: ATLS Course Audit, ATCN, or TPATC.
• Maintain License / proficiency according to state and local standards.
• NYS EMT-Basic or higher within 1 year of employment.
• NYS RN Licensure.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods in uncomfortable conditions.
• Must be able to regularly stand; walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. unaided.
• Must be able to endure long periods of adverse flight conditions, including extreme temperatures, prolonged discomfort, and aircraft turbulence.
• Must be physically able to crawl in and out of the aircraft unaided, walk at least ¼ mile carrying 50 lbs. of equipment, and securely fasten all required aircraft restraints.
• Employee’s weight shall not exceed 240 pounds, inclusive of flight suit, appropriate foot gear and helmet.
