About the Role
The Commerce B2B Engineering team builds systems enabling BigCommerce merchants to manage complex B2B operations, including pricing and workflows. We collaborate across teams to deliver new user experiences on a leading SaaS e-commerce platform.
Responsibilities
- Build high-quality front-end features using React and TypeScript, focusing on clarity, performance, and maintainability.
- Refactor legacy or complex codebases to improve readability, testability, and long-term health.
- Identify and fix issues across the stack, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and deliver outcomes.
- Provide code reviews and technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Contribute to the team's technical direction through suggestions and implementation.
- Improve front-end developer experience, including tools, testing, and performance optimizations.
- Ensure technical decisions support goals of quality, performance, reliability, and security.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience building front-end applications with React and TypeScript.
- Experience working on complex or long-lived codebases.
- Ability to write maintainable, well-tested code.
- Comfort working in existing systems and building new ones.
- Enjoy simplifying code, refactoring, and untangling complexity.
- Clear communication skills for explaining technical details and trade-offs.
- Ownership of outcomes and commitment to reliability.
- Ability to mentor and support others.
- Stay up-to-date with modern tools and approaches.
- Proactive, curious, and comfortable working independently while being a strong collaborator.
