About the Role

Pi is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to assist customers with the deployment, integration, operation, and optimization of its agentic security platform. This role involves working directly with customer teams to own technical delivery, integrate Pi into existing systems, and build custom solutions. You will act as a technical bridge between customers and Pi's product/engineering teams, translating customer needs into platform capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical deployment of Pi within customer environments, including cloud, private network, customer-managed, and hybrid configurations.
  • Travel to customer sites when needed to work directly with engineering, security, infrastructure, and executive stakeholders.
  • Own customer implementations from initial architecture and integration planning through production deployment, validation, and ongoing operation.
  • Integrate Pi with customer systems such as source control, CI/CD platforms, ticketing systems, identity providers, cloud environments, security tools, data sources, and internal developer platforms.
  • Build customized applications, workflows, connectors, automations, and product extensions that help customers leverage Pi for their specific security and engineering processes.
  • Translate ambiguous customer needs into clear technical requirements, solution designs, implementation plans, and working software.
  • Configure and operate Kubernetes-based environments, including workloads, networking, ingress, autoscaling, secrets, and workload identity.
  • Build and maintain customer deployment infrastructure using infrastructure as code.
  • Support customer-specific databases, caches, object storage, container registries, networking, secrets, and deployment pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot issues across customer infrastructure, networking, applications, workers, databases, integrations, and agentic workflows.
  • Establish observability through logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, alerts, and operational runbooks.
  • Harden deployments across IAM, secrets management, network boundaries, workload identity, production access, and data isolation.
  • Help customers operate Pi successfully by developing deployment documentation, runbooks, automation, training, and operational best practices.
  • Partner closely with Pi’s product and engineering teams to communicate customer feedback, identify product gaps, and prioritize reusable improvements.
  • Turn successful customer-specific implementations into repeatable integrations, deployment patterns, and core product capabilities.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer teams and become a technical partner they rely on for solving difficult problems.

Requirements

  • Strong experience deploying and operating production software in customer or enterprise environments.
  • Experience working directly with customers to understand technical requirements, design solutions, and deliver working systems.
  • Strong software engineering skills and the ability to build production-quality applications, integrations, APIs, connectors, and automation.
  • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code, including modules, remote state, provider configuration, and safe change management.
  • Hands-on Kubernetes experience in production environments.
  • Familiarity with Helm, ingress controllers, load balancers, Kubernetes networking, service accounts, and workload identity patterns.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise systems such as source control, CI/CD, identity providers, ticketing platforms, cloud services, internal APIs, and data platforms.
  • Experience operating PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, including migrations, backups, availability, and performance fundamentals.
  • Ability to debug distributed systems using logs, metrics, traces, cloud-native tooling, and systematic investigation.
  • Strong security instincts around IAM, secrets, network exposure, least privilege, tenant isolation, customer data, and production access.
  • Ability to write useful software and automation in Python, TypeScript, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions to engineering, security, operations, and business stakeholders.
  • Comfort working through ambiguous requirements and making pragmatic tradeoffs to deliver customer outcomes.
  • Good judgment around production changes, rollout strategies, incident response, operational risk, and customer impact.
  • Ability to operate independently in fast-moving and sometimes unfamiliar customer environments.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites.

About the Company

  • Pi is building an agentic product security platform for teams that need to secure software at the speed they build it.
  • Modern development is accelerating, but security knowledge is still scattered across code, tickets, documents, incidents, reviews, and the people who remember why decisions were made.
  • Pi turns that context into institutional security memory, helping teams triage faster, remediate in context, prevent repeat vulnerability classes, and embed security guardrails where engineering work already happens.
  • We are building for a future where security is not a blocker at the end of the development process. It is part of how software gets designed, reviewed, shipped, and improved.
