About the Role

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Deployment Project Manager (DPM) to manage the entire Solutions Deployment (SD) scope on CBTC Signaling Projects. This role is responsible for all technical, planning, budgeting, and scheduling aspects of the deployment phase, working closely with the Project Manager and Solution Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire Solutions Deployment (SD) scope on a given CBTC Signaling Project.
  • Oversee all technical aspects of the Project that are deployment related.
  • Manage planning, budgeting, and scheduling issues related to Deployment.
  • Organize the logic of SD work with SD Team Leaders, the SMO, and the Project team.
  • Reconcile bottom-up SD planning inputs from Team Leaders with top-down planning requirements from the Project Manager.
  • Define project work with Team Leaders, including setting priorities for review.
  • Foster good working relationships and team building for both SD and non-SD team members.
  • Track and interface with the Procurement Manager to expedite the overall acquisition process.
  • Plan and conduct Deployment Reviews with internal teams and the customer.
  • Ensure cost and schedule aspects of SD trade-off analyses are conducted properly.
  • Approve site test and acceptance activities created by IVQ in the absence of a T&C Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Bid Team to create the Deployment Management Plan.
  • Identify and manage the resolution of SD project risks.
  • Provide regular DPM reports to Senior Management.
  • Ensure the Infrastructure design path is contract compliant, supports project budgets and schedules, and is compatible with the migration strategy.
  • Facilitate early identification and resolution of SD risks to avoid cost and schedule impacts.
  • Ensure interdepartmental discussions are integrated for a constant and accurate flow of information.
  • Define Project SD work scope.
  • Create an integrated team atmosphere between internal and external SD disciplines while ensuring compliance to Chorus processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • University graduate (Bachelors degree minimum) with an engineering or science background.
  • 10+ years of working experience in Design and Deployment of a Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling project.
  • Logical approach to problem-solving.
  • Persuasive and able to remain calm under crisis.
  • Ability to motivate and deliver results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven Project management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of current and legacy desktop publishing software (e.g. MS Suite, Visio, DOORS, Adobe Acrobat).
  • Proficiency with Requirement Management tools such as DOORS or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with JIRA.
  • Sufficient knowledge of International Relations and requirements.
  • Proficient in use of SAP.
  • Excellent Language and Communication skills.
  • P&L Management experience.
  • Adept at People Management/leadership.
  • Sufficient knowledge in Negotiation.
  • Strong Bid Management skills.
  • Technical knowledge and skills required, e.g. system engineering; Safety HW/SW design etc.
  • Previous experience in operational development.
