About the Role

The Commercial Banking Relationship Manager serves as the primary contact for business members, responsible for maintaining and growing relationships within an assigned portfolio. This role involves completing underwriting requests, including annual reviews, renewals, and new loan requests, while assisting with other underwriting assignments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio primarily comprised of CRE relationships.
  • Work with members to retain and potentially grow relationships, while collaborating with internal partners to cross-sell bank products and services.
  • Provide financial advice and counsel to members and prospective members.
  • Manage assigned portfolio by facilitating annual reviews, loan renewals, and new requests of existing portfolio members.
  • Complete all sections of the appropriate credit analysis and risk rating package.
  • Make presentations on specific loans and participate in the loan approval process.
  • Review loan documentation prior to closings to ensure appropriate documentation is provided accurately.
  • Provide assistance to the Processing and/or Underwriting areas to ensure a quality loan decision.
  • Prepare for and attend Commercial Loan Committee meetings and assist in closings, as needed.
  • Execute loan closings with existing portfolio members.
  • Underwrite annual reviews, renewal of existing loans, and new loan requests.
  • Provide feedback to Commercial Loan Officers and supervisory staff regarding concerns with any aspects of loans underwritten.
  • Recommend and model appropriate loan structure for new and existing loan relationships.
  • Contact business clients, accountants, attorneys or other necessary professionals to clarify questions related to the preparation of the credit analysis package.
  • Attend commercial loan appointments with Commercial Loan Officers to be part of the profiling process.
  • Request and analyze all necessary collateral documents and take a proactive approach in resolving any issues.
  • Request necessary financial statements for the completion of annual reviews.
  • Complete annual reviews as per the requirements of the Commercial Loan Policy and the dates established in the credit analysis package.
  • Analyze and study trends to determine the appropriate risk rating.
  • Make recommendations on risk rating changes.
  • Attend Commercial Loan Committee meetings to present credit analysis information and/or other information relative to this position.
  • Perform loan audit review work as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field and a minimum of six years of direct experience in business/commercial credit analysis. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong financial and credit analysis skills.
  • Detailed understanding of business credit documentation and business collateral documents.
  • Experience or ability to gain proficiency in all programs and systems used for this job including systems related to deposit and loan products.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
