About the Role
The Resident Camp Nurse will reside on Frost Valley premises, administering medications, providing basic first aid, maintaining records, and responding to emergencies for campers and staff. Services will adhere to policies set by Frost Valley YMCA, NY State Office of Professions, NY State Department of Health, and the American Camp Association.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications in a timely and safe manner.
- Accurately document all care provided per Frost Valley YMCA policies and procedures.
- Ensure documentation is filed properly and maintain confidentiality of medical records.
- Provide basic and emergency healthcare to guests and staff in compliance with physician orders and Frost Valley policies.
- Respond to calls via radio and phone.
- Serve as LPN/RN on-call overnight when guests are on property.
- Maintain a clean and orderly Wellness Center and medical venues.
- Facilitate smooth transition of care to outside medical providers and provide follow-up.
- Collaborate with other medical disciplines, Wellness Center Staff, and departments to ensure safety and positive health outcomes.
- Communicate special health needs to appropriate staff.
- Assist the Director of Nursing Services with inventory supplies.
- Provide competent, age-specific, and culturally sensitive care.
- Interpret and enforce all camp policies, rules, and regulations.
- Facilitate staff and guest awareness of unsafe behaviors and conditions.
- Participate in emergency drills and trainings.
- Implement emergency procedures and safety protocols.
- Practice within standards set forth by the New York State Office of Professions, New York State Department of Health, and the American Campers Association.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services.
Requirements
- Hold current New York State LPN or RN License.
- Possess excellent organization skills.
- Proficient in Gmail, Microsoft Office, and databases.
- Able to live on site.
- Possess a valid US Driver’s License.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time.
