About the Role

This role owns how Unity runs across the XR ecosystem, setting the platform roadmap, negotiating with global hardware partners, and collaborating with engineering and R&D to maintain Unity's XR capabilities. It's a high-visibility position that will shape what millions of creators can build, with short-term goals of stabilizing and expanding XR platform support, building partner relationships, and closing dependency gaps, and long-term goals of positioning Unity as the go-to engine for next-gen XR and AI-assisted creation.

Responsibilities

Own the XR platform roadmap, analyzing market trends, identifying emerging platforms, and determining Unity's investment areas for maximum creator impact.
Negotiate with global hardware partners and manage internal dependencies to ensure platform-level stability.
Author strategy documents and stay informed on the technical details of Unity's interaction with XR hardware.
Partner with R&D to influence the evolution of AI-driven authoring, internal tooling, and engine support for XR platforms.
Represent Unity's platform vision externally at industry conferences and in strategic overviews for partners and customers.

Requirements

Proven track record shipping complex, technical products such as middleware, OS, developer tools, or large-scale platform integrations.
Experience managing external partner relationships and influencing internal stakeholders across a large organization.
Technical fluency in APIs, rendering pipelines, and hardware abstraction, with the ability to engage deeply with architects and engineers.
Ability to resolve complex cross-functional dependencies and drive execution from strategy to product launch.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical roadmaps into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
