About the Role

HarperCollins Children’s Books is seeking an Associate Publisher to support the SVP, Group Publisher in daily operations and foster cross-functional relationships across Editorial, Design, Sales, Marketing, Publicity, and General Books teams. This role involves significant input on supply chain and inventory decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the SVP, Group Publisher on the daily operations and strategic priorities of the HarperCollins Children’s Books division.
  • Collaborate with Editorial and Design leadership to support publishing programs and divisional initiatives.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with Sales, Marketing, and Publicity teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of key objectives.
  • Lead and coordinate projects across multiple stakeholders, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and business goals are achieved.
  • Work closely with General Books colleagues on cross-divisional opportunities, initiatives, and publishing programs.
  • Participate in supply chain planning, inventory management, and title performance discussions to support business objectives.
  • Analyze business needs and recommend operational improvements that drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Serve as a key liaison across departments, facilitating communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Support the development and execution of divisional strategies that contribute to revenue growth, market presence, and publishing success.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in publishing, sales operations, or a related field.
  • Experience in children’s publishing strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and managing complex projects from concept through execution.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance creative, operational, and commercial priorities.
  • Experience collaborating with editorial, sales, marketing, publicity, and supply chain teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A collaborative leadership style with a team-oriented mindset and a commitment to fostering strong partnerships.
  • Passion for children’s books and enthusiasm for the publishing industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Cover letters are strongly preferred.
