About the Role

This position is responsible for operating radiotelephone, communication equipment, video observation equipment, and computer data entry software to efficiently relay information and dispatch personnel in emergency and non-emergency situations. The role involves monitoring equipment, logging transactions, and potentially interacting with the public.

Responsibilities

• Operates communications equipment in dispatching and directing units of a multi-unit security department.
• Monitors activities and calls for service to provide efficient and timely response.
• Receives telephone/radio calls and directs them to the correct personnel.
• Maintains required records of security department activities and client information.
• May be required to drive or utilize a Department vehicle to maintain coverage or during emergencies.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
• One (1) year of multi-unit dispatching experience in the operation of a two-way radio or a telephone communication center.
• Completion of sixty (60) semester hours at a college or university may be substituted for one year of required experience.
• Possession of a valid New York State Driver's License at time of appointment and throughout employment.

Skills

• Working knowledge of procedures and terminology for operating telephone and two-way radio equipment.
• Working knowledge and familiarity of the geographic makeup of Erie Community College.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, enunciating clearly.
• Ability to use a computer and dedicated software for tracking incidents and Officers, including computer-controlled video equipment.
