About the Role
The Manager, Corporate Accounting role is within the Corporate Finance team, reporting to the Director, Corporate Finance. This position will manage the accounting for Trudell Medical Limited (TML), focusing on implementing automation, financial process improvements, and efficiency enhancements while maintaining financial risk management to support the Trudell Medical Group of Companies' (TMG) growth.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly reviews of reconciliations, tax filings, and financial reports prepared by TML, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Coordinate departmental reporting and variance reporting to facilitate decision making.
- Assist TML with general accounting functions on an as needed basis, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, or journal entries for month-end closes.
- Provide support and accounting expertise for continuous improvement of processes and controls, and project accounting utilization.
- Coordinate TML corporate budget and forecast preparation, allowing for monthly departmental level analysis of variances against budget.
- Maintain project accounting for tracking intercompany charges, centralized purchasing tracking, and legal expenditures.
- Assist with financial digital transformation projects and identification of automation opportunities to increase efficiencies in the general accounting function.
- Identify and recommend updates to accounting processes and procedures.
- Ensure accounting processes, procedures, and policies for TML are documented and maintained.
- Ensure adherence to TMG internal control policy to minimize financial risks.
- Assist external auditors and provide required statements and information requests.
- Coordinate monthly TML management fee timesheet calculations and allocation of corporate costs back to affiliated companies.
- Monitor and support processing of day-to-day banking activities.
- Provide backup for the Manager, Corporate Finance in performing TMG Treasury administration and support.
- Assist VP and CFO, and Director Corporate Finance with ad hoc financial analyses and requests.
- Assist Director, Taxation with financial analysis needed for tax reporting and government-initiated audits.
Requirements
- University degree in Business Administration/Accounting.
- CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation.
- Experience managing and mentoring the development of a finance team.
- 5+ years of experience in general accounting.
- Minimum of 3 years in public accounting.
- Advanced experience with MS Excel (spreadsheets).
- Experience working in ERP systems.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task.
- Enjoy working independently and collaborating as part of a team.
