About the Role
Monroe Ambulance is seeking passionate individuals to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) through their EMT Academy Course. This program provides the necessary training and skills for a successful career in EMS, aiming to shape a new culture of emergency medical services in the region.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency calls to provide immediate care to the critically ill and injured.
- Transport patients to medical facilities or for interfacility transfers.
- Respond to calls using the most expeditious route, observing traffic ordinances.
- Attend all classes and be on time for class and shift.
- Maintain an average of 70% or above throughout the course.
- Pass the NYS EMT-B practical and written exam.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid NYS driver's license.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
- Frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must frequently lift and/or move 125 lbs without assistance and 250 pounds with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently works in outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally works in high, precarious places.
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, and airborne pathogens.
- Must make reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities to enable them to perform the essential functions of their position unless doing so poses an undue hardship to the company or a direct threat to health or safety.
