About the Role

The Energy Rater plays a key role in the design and certification of high-performance multifamily buildings by conducting HERS energy modeling, reviewing construction documents, and providing technical recommendations. This position helps optimize building performance and ensure compliance with green building programs.

Responsibilities

  • Work with green building programs such as Energy Star, LEED for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities, and Passive House.
  • Communicate program guidelines, requirements, and desired outcomes to clients and contractors.
  • Conduct energy assessments and perform energy modeling using HERS protocols and tools.
  • Work with architects and developers to develop building plans with an eye for sustainability.
  • Analyze data and provide recommendations for energy efficiency improvements.
  • Deliver accurate energy models, thorough design reviews, and technical guidance.
  • Produce accurate and timely energy models and plan reviews.
  • Communicate effectively with architects, developers, and project teams.
  • Maintain a high level of technical quality.
  • Identify opportunities to improve building performance through practical, cost-effective solutions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in construction, energy efficiency, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with HERS ratings, ENERGY STAR certifications, or other green building programs is preferred.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
