About the Role
The Energy Rater plays a key role in the design and certification of high-performance multifamily buildings by conducting HERS energy modeling, reviewing construction documents, and providing technical recommendations. This position helps optimize building performance and ensure compliance with green building programs.
Responsibilities
- Work with green building programs such as Energy Star, LEED for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities, and Passive House.
- Communicate program guidelines, requirements, and desired outcomes to clients and contractors.
- Conduct energy assessments and perform energy modeling using HERS protocols and tools.
- Work with architects and developers to develop building plans with an eye for sustainability.
- Analyze data and provide recommendations for energy efficiency improvements.
- Deliver accurate energy models, thorough design reviews, and technical guidance.
- Produce accurate and timely energy models and plan reviews.
- Communicate effectively with architects, developers, and project teams.
- Maintain a high level of technical quality.
- Identify opportunities to improve building performance through practical, cost-effective solutions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 2 years of experience in construction, energy efficiency, or a related field.
- Familiarity with HERS ratings, ENERGY STAR certifications, or other green building programs is preferred.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
