About the Role

Leads, directs, and coordinates the work of subcontractors and/or Turner trade labor for Mechanical and Electrical systems. Responsible for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality of work, and adherence to budget. Supervises Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Interns, and trade labor.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and makes decisions regarding scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and trade staffing for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Manages work among assigned trades to ensure coordinated project operations and resolves local area problems.
  • Manages the overall site safety program and ensures subcontractor compliance with Turner standards and safety regulations.
  • Supervises and develops Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and/or interns.
  • Ensures strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements.
  • Creates schedules, determines work sequencing, and develops recovery strategies to maintain project schedule and budget.
  • Communicates with owners and architects/engineers regarding field issues and investigates/resolves them.
  • Manages the billing process for work in place and oversees monthly estimates, payrolls, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Ensures work is installed in compliance with approved contract documents.
  • Works with the Engineer on the coordination of mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and piping layouts.
  • Leads project inspections, startup, commissioning, turnover, training, and punchlist processes.
  • Coordinates, directs, and monitors subcontractors and suppliers to ensure conformance with plans, specifications, and codes.
  • Reviews project changes with the Project Engineer.
  • Keeps detailed daily records of MEPs trade contractors' work progress.
  • Participates in preconstruction efforts, including constructability and logistics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or at least four years of formal engineering or architectural experience.
  • A minimum of six years of mechanical/electrical/plumbing construction experience.
  • Knowledge of building construction, means and methods, scheduling, and cost control procedures.
  • Knowledge of general contract, general conditions, subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Specific knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of building information modeling and its use in coordination.
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Ability to sit, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
