About the Role
The EHS Specialist refines and oversees the performance and growth of EHS Programs, with an emphasis on Environmental and regulated waste management. This role ensures compliance with state and federal legislation, manages regulatory agency relationships and permits, and develops and implements EHS strategies to minimize environmental impacts and promote a safe workplace.
Responsibilities
- Maintain performance expectations of assigned aspects of the Environmental, Health and Safety (ISO14001/45001) Management Systems at the facility.
- Participate in the development, planning, and implementation of the EH&S Management System including policies, business processes and prevention initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental, health and safety and manage appropriate agencies.
- Participate in the measurement and routine business reporting of EH&S objectives, goals, strategies, and key performance indices in conjunction with affected business groups.
- Maintain a leadership role in site level environmental health and safety teams, including the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
- Provide site level representation with third parties, including neighboring businesses, local councils, and regulatory bodies including OSHA, FDEP, EPA, etc as assigned.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen Required: SkyWater Technology Foundry, Inc. subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All accepted applications must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR.
- Ability to apply EHS and regulatory knowledge to business decisions including the development of implementation plans for applicable requirements.
- Ability to build, motivate and lead cross-functional teams to meet project objectives, with a focus on measurable results.
- Can recognize the need, and effectively escalate in the event of conflict or misalignment threatens the success of a project.
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends on occasion.
- Must be able to adapt to stressful situations and complete projects under tight deadlines.
- Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 40 pounds.
- Requires walking, standing, repetitive bending and some climbing.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Skills
- EHS experience in chemically intensive manufacturing industry including regulated waste, stormwater, wastewater, SPCC, SARA, etc. functional knowledge
- Experience and knowledge in the area of environmental management including, but not limited to Water, Air, Waste and ISO 14001
- Strong ability to work cross functionally and manage effective change relative to EH&S aspects associated with people changes, equipment and process changes.
- Knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations and industry EH&S related standards.
- Strong computer literacy skills including mastery knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.) skills.
- Technical experience in occupational health and safety with a strong emphasis in chemical safety / compatibility.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and drive message on complex content, in front of peers.
